Modding server 1U

After the benchwork the grids were blanched with sandpaper and covered with varnish from a balloon…
That’s all, the front panel is finished. Owing to big windows our panel has become so delicate that it can be bent with two fingers. This won’t make the case more solid… You should temper steel to contribute to the case solidity. In the factory it is hardened with RF current and then normalized to 40 units.

There will be one button on the front panel. I fix a fastening bracket for microswitch to the three small 1 mm rivets with countersunk heads.

I cover it with two layers of deep blue metallic from a balloon; after it has dried, I coat it with two layers of varnish.

That’s all. The front panel of our modded server is finished. There is only one last thing to do…
Our modding can’t go without backlight :) The last trait of the modded device is illuminated logotype. I have already had experience of making illuminated logos. Last spring I made a nice Linux logotype, a funny luminous penguin on silent computer…

Non-constructive thoughts about modding...

All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
