Non-constructive thoughts about modding...

  All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode.  When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design. In kindergarten when other children were playing, I was sitting alone, drawing cars (I’m still drawing them, though I’m 39). In school I took part in editorial stuff and in the institute I draw portraits of my friends’ girlfriends on A1 format from photos.
  Now my flat is in repair, I think it would never end, because there are some fantastic ideas there... And they call me Coolybin at my work (I really have one patent, but I still couldn’t advance it). But that’s not the main topic. Two months of nonstop surfing on modding sites change my attitude to the works I've seen. I decided to write this article when I saw that clever guys with straight arms and anxiety to beautiful, who could make chef-de-oeuvres, but…
  But most modding projects DON’T have esthetic appeal and they only have value for its creators and only because they spent time on it. I don’t want to offend somebody and I think professional designers excuse me this delirium, but let me repeat in tenth time these banal thoughts, which you should take into account before taking a drill in your hands.
 

 Number one.
To repaint a computer case, to mount coolers with light and to round stub - it is not modding. You come to really interesting things when you have an IDEA. You could think up and idea from everywhere: a song text, a billboard, computer game, rain, your girlfriend’ kiss, new film and so on. You gust need some imagination. Light, colors and stabs rounding are just tools for expressing this idea.
