Modding server 1U

   We face a difficult task: transfer of the power box from left to right. Alas, just so.., I consider this variant the only correct. There is one more decision: to draw wires from power box through the whole case. I excluded this variant at once, I don’t want to lose voltage in the long wires and block ventilation with a thick bunch of wires. Besides, it’s difficult to find a power box with such long loops and I would have to solder them on my own… this also doesn’t contribute to the device safety. One more advantage of my decision is better fixation of the case in order to make it steadier. This is designed construction of my case.
     

   I looked through dozens of disassembled servers, unfortunately mostly in the pictures.., and I tried to make my server not worse, I tried to understand the particulars of construction of such servers as Sun, Supermicro, AMD… It seemed to me that optimal decision in my case would be to make as less as possible obstacles in the air current way. I started working on the basis of this conception and I make the back wall in accordance with this principle.
   

   I cut all redundant parts out of the back wall and leave only the frame.
 
    

   I unrivet the back wall, take the frame off and cut a steel plate of appropriate size.
