Mod "Line-Of-Light"

  Illumination
Making of internal illumination in the case was complicated with that fact, that the center of the case practically is fully stuffed from top to bottom. So pair lamps or light-emitting diodes would be obviously insufficient. Besides - small angle of emission of light-emitting diodes would leave rather visible light trace. Finally there was made a decision to use cold cathode lamps in record-breaking number - four pieces. Unfortunately... pair 30 cm lamps vanished in the nearest shops at once. There was only either one in complete set with inverter or light-emitting diode. I was forced to buy two complete sets of purple 10 cm lamps. Each lamp was pasted to the strip of polycarbonate, in central part of which there has been pasted the mirror film for best reflection. One of white lamps of illumination was fixed in a deep niche in the bottom between wheels and covered with the panel of polycarbonate for protection - almost street race illumination of the bottom:) One more lamp of white color was hidden in the small mirror screen behind the control panel between flutes of backplane - and all buttons, toggle-switches and handles were illuminated by auras of light. Six lamps of illumination... I have not seen such illumination yet. The result of effect is evident :)

Before final photographing the case was systematically disassembled, photographed for writing of the given text, checked and assembled again.

Well, here is the final gallery of the project “LineOfLight”, where monitor and mobile phone have taken part.

Few words on prices: three beams by 1$, panel at the cost of 12$, polycarbonate sheet at the cost of 13$, 5 meters of film at the cost of 3$/rm, 4 wheel supports by 1$, two buttons by 4$ per each and three switches by 2$. Totally the entire case made the humble 50$ by basic materials for making without cost of lamps and screws.
PS: In spite of all assurances of people on fatal influence of such symbiosis, the only negative side has just been noticed during entire operating time of the case - constant lost of free space on hard disk because of installed programs and downloaded information :)

  Good modding everyone, DireSnake.

Non-constructive thoughts about modding...

All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
