Project "O3-Station"

The extremely qualitative frame of the case made of thick steel. All basic fastenings are made with rivets and the panels itself are accurately curled inside so to be cut somehow is simply unreal. Besides the panels have an intricate profile so the loosening just does not threaten to the case. The case itself is rather narrow so power unit fixing is made completely on back wall of the case and at small corner of the central plate. Motherboard fixing is made not only on standard brass columns but in general on steel elements welded in the panel located according to ATX standard. So the brass columns although included in the complete set play an additional role, in case if the manufacturer of motherboard drilled additionally and from the heart apertures in it.

120 mm fan is preinstalled already at the back wall, behind coarse-cellular cut grid. Judging by a pair of additional apertures it is followed that at request there could be installed also 92 mm fan. Though it is worthwhile to install the other one of 120 mm, even because the existing fan is very noisy (in comparison with the fan of power unit).

In order to get the front side well and qualitatively it is necessary to remove the front panel. Fortunately it is done very simply by way of unlocking of several latches from within the case and that’s it - the panel in my hands... and right now I am surprised of its weight. Yes, it is really good manufacturing. Besides, running wire of illumination of frontal elements is provided with a small socket so it is possible to remove the panel easily and put it aside – nothing hangs loosely and there is no risk that it may fall off for good.
So, the front panel. Three of four 5,25 slots and one of two 3,5 inch ones are provided with steel panels with instruction to use a screwdriver to break them off - good care of users and installers. Solidly made panel with sockets for USB and sound... and an obvious aperture for wires of IEEE connection. All cables in sockets, so they can be disconnected easily to prevent disturbances. Small panel of buttons and indication LED’s not only remains on the frame of the case but it is also specially provided with inscriptions where/what is located. So it is possible to work on this computer without the front decorative panel.

Non-constructive thoughts about modding...

All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
