How to use a multimeter?

Direct current measurement is held only when multimeter is switched in circuit brake. Don’t confuse with resistance measurement!
There is one more point that you should know. For measuring current more than 0.2 A (a flashlight bulb) besides from position the switch you should also change socket on a device! Otherwise a Chinese device would steam.

We’ll measure current from a small bulb, that's why 200 mA nominal should be enough

There is a funny multimeters with clip-pin for measuring heavy currents.
This device works on the electric transformer principle, where the lead, in which we need to measure current, is the first coil. I should mention that you should connect this clip only on one lead. This device is for safely measurement of current up to 1000 A in industrial lead. Leads up child hand thickness.

The temperature is measured by special remote mounted sensor, I don’t have it. With the horrible precision of this device there is no use in this function.
Between ohm sign and transistor meter there is a dot with brackets, it’s rather useful option of wire identification with built-in beeper. It works primitively but if there is a contact – it beeps, if there isn’t it doesn’t.
That's all. If you have enough money you’d better not to buy such cheap device. Buy device at least for 50$… There will be more functions and it would be more precise.

Non-constructive thoughts about modding...

All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
