Modding Thermal Grease

      The idea arose by chance when I was lapping just another radiator and besmeared myself with worked-out grease… If you have lapped a cooler or radiator at least once in your life, you can conceive what I’m speaking about. As a matter of fact, why can’t we use this “mixture” instead of thermal grease? After all, thermal conductivity of aluminium is 200 times more than of zinc oxide from which thermal grease is made. The question is how we can remove granular abrasive polishing paste from it… I was thinking it over during my uncomplicated and routine work. I lapped big radiators (more than 20 cm, for a new project), my hands got tired .., I was bored with this work and a wonderful idea came to my head. It seemed my brain felt sorry for my exhausted hands… :) Of course, I neglected the radiators and began to realize my cunning idea.
 

    Then I decided to use silver instead of aluminium because thermal conductivity of silver is 450 times more than of zinc oxide, while the advantage of aluminium is only 250 times. And the point is not only in thermal conductivity. Aluminium is unsafe, it can be oxidized… Let’s proceed to the manufacture of silver grease. We need nothing but two silver plates for realizing our uncomplicated technology; but the question is where we can get these silver plates. You may buy a bar in a bank or obtain some old coins by persistent asking your grandfather, or buy them from numismatists for token payment (about 10-20$ for a piece as I was informed). I didn’t need to go to a bank as I had a box of pins for a long time; my neighbour presented them to me as not wanted.
