Remodel standard power supply unit into a fanless one.
Lay the power unit aside and take 2HC2. We need the pipes: they are placed in the aluminium heat removers in drawn condition, so they can be pulled out easily. The main point is not to pull too violently in order not to bind the pipe in half when one of its ends rushes out of the housing. We need 4 pipes, they must be straight; this means that we must straighten the pipes after requisitioning them out of the cooler. By the way, it is stipulated not only by the shape of radiators in power unit. We can’t use the pipes in the same configuration as in 2HC2 as the length of side parts is insufficient for high-quality transmission of heat to heat carrier (this suggests that efficiency of 2HC2 will be low, doesn’t this? :)). More simply, the pipes won’t function properly; this has already happened many times during experiments (by the way, special thanks to Clear66 for investigation of the problem and finding effective solution). Thus, the pipes must be unbound. This procedure is not simple; I managed to do this with the help of such fixture:
A cutting of a thick-walled aluminium tube (see the list of required materials) is ground smooth with a broach file or a dremel tool (mouthpiece – a cone stone) in such way that the passage from inner diameter to the outer one has the shape of a flare fitting: it is necessary not to make notches on the smooth surface of the pipe being unbound. Then put the fragile work of Chinese engineers into this makeshift pipe-binding device. Now we can start binding. Take the pipe with your fingers as close to the binding device as possible…
… and unbind not paying attention to the sinister crunch. Unbind a bit, one millimeter only. Then pull this freshly unbound piece into the pipe-binding device and unbind again. Continue doing this until you straighten the whole pipe. It’s important to do it little by little: otherwise the pipe may break. These pipes, by the way, are not only fragile but rather hard as well. That’s why it’s recommended to grip the pipe-binding device in a vice and take the pipe then with both hands. But even in this case your hands will hurt next day. Nothing can be done – art knows no pain :) As a result of all manipulations we must obtain this:
Isn’t it beautiful?

|Non-constructive thoughts about modding...
All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
