Silent computer

Home-made case for fanless computer.

At first it sticks a bit but after adjustment moves softly. Great. What an attaboy I am :) The only thing which spoils the outward appearance is the sidewalls… What can be done with these side walls which has been used for ten years for flattening of work pieces with a sledge-hammer?..
I’ve found the cure for this disease too… The method is simple. Fix the sheet and machine it with the emery disk of the angle grinder using its whole surface. It seems extremely simple… but this is an illusion until you try doing it yourself. Well, I’ll tell step by step…
I warn you that this work requires strong nerves and doesn’t stand hurry. We need first of all a strong and steady workbench. I draw attention to this not for nothing! When running, the angle grinder twitches and you must hold it firmly. Unsteadiness of workbench is fraught with scratches on the detail surface and dangerous injuries of hands. Mind you don’t do this work on the floor! Otherwise you can injure your knees seriously…
I speak about hands injuries not in vain.., emery disks are set into the angle grinder only with protective enclosure pulled off. Be cautious.
There is one more fine point… I’ve already mentioned that angle grinder overheats quickly. Professional angle grinder endures about 10 minutes, standard grinder – 4-5 minutes (at +20°C and hard work). Then the angle grinder must have a rest for an hour… It’s vexing to wait for an hour after five minutes of work, isn’t it? There is the only way out – to buy three or four angle grinders and cool them with a good fan. This allows to work without a break.

Emery disks. The flat one (with sticker) is good for flattening the surface. The other disk, made of pieces of emery paper, is preferred for such work. It lasts for a long time. Two disks were enough to finish the work.

It’s not difficult to fix the aluminium sheet on a workbench. Screw thinner metal cuts to the workbench with clamps, and clutch the work piece between them.

The military-style mod.
Non-constructive thoughts about modding...

All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
