Silent computer

Silent computer in self-made case.

We told about self-made case silent computer in the first part of the article, and about its silent hard disk and fluorescent Linux logo in the second part. It’s high time to tell about the filling of the case now.
This computer has been made for a friend of mine. It wasn’t assembled from the very beginning; it is an upgrade of an assembled computer… During the upgrade we bought a new hard disk (80 Gb Seagate) and new 640 processor in exchange for 3 GHz Celeron. Other characteristics of the computer were suitable for its owner. Video adapter is absent; the owner is not interested in graphic games at all... Judging by the penguin on the logo you can guess the computer owner’s interests and life style.
I advise people who didn’t hear of our fanless computers put off reading of this article and get acquainted with the stated above material first.
So, after the case is finished and the project is fully thought over, modeled and all details of assemblage are clear for us, we can start working on mother board installation. The technology has been tested not once and worked through in details. At first mark the mounting holes and place fastening screws.

Figure out, cut out and fasten lower heat removers of MOSFETs, chipset and the bridge.

The photo illustrates the process of “marking”, more precisely – place determination for the heat remover. It’s rather difficult to determine its position. It’s easier to glue it to the mother board on thermal grease and fasten by the marking…

Grind them in.

Non-constructive thoughts about modding...

All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
