Silent computer
Homemade silent power supply
Drill four small holes of 2.5 mm diameter in each end of T-radiators, and make M3 thread. Be careful with marking because thickness of Chinese fake is only 4 mm. Screw the thick plates; screw-heads must be sunk in. In each plate edge drill two mounting holes. First stage is over. Disassemble all the parts and wash away shavings.
Mount transistors to their previous places; don’t forget about thermal paste and spacers. Mount all the parts including transformer to the board. What for did we unsolder transformer? We did this to align its upper surface to the level of transistor radiators because it is heated up as well and needs to be cooled. After installation of radio components place the board on plane surface, for example glass, with elements down. Then align, solder, wash with spirit, clean out by blowing and check absence of shavings in the light. Big capacitors heat up as well. It’s clearly seen in the photo that they adjoin their ends to main radiator through a spacer.
Screw thick plates to transistors and fit them to main radiator, mark and drill the holes. Don’t forget about insulating textolite screw spacers, dielectric thermo stencil and thermal paste; there shouldn’t be any electric contact between these components. Thus we’ll have a safe galvanic separation with line voltage.
Next objects of our consideration will be two toroidal throttles of low-voltage part of the power box. This part of work is also easy. Make two angle bars out of aluminium plate of 20 mm width and 2-3 mm thickness, and then put them on the plate, drill and thread. Smear the angle bar and the collar with thick layer of hot adhesive and, having interlaid it with thermo stencil, press and screw it. Leave it for 24 hours to get dry.

Non-constructive thoughts about modding... |
All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
