Silent computer
A noiseless hard drive in one day
Fill the cabinet up with necessary amount of paste; level it with a credit card. Put the hard disk into the cabinet carefully not to damage the plastic sachet and disk. Level the paste again, wipe its remnants with a rug wetted in spirits. Roll up the edge of the sachet and cover cabinet with a lid.
The last thing we must do is to paste edges of the box with sticky tape and then mount it into computer. In the photo you can see the result of our modding.
This device had been working more than half a year by the moment of writing this article. The temperature conditions were normal, noise was reduced to 60-70 %. The simplicity and low cost of the device makes it accessible for replication; even a schoolboy may construct it. Mount the device into computer cabinet using rubber spacers in order to prevent vibration transfer.
Just in case I’ll mention once again that such modding requires proper knowledge and skills. The editors don’t bear responsibility for damaged component parts and hard disks and other harm that a bush-leaguer may cause :)
I wish everyone good modding, SilentMods.com,

Our first modding. We did it at school.

Non-constructive thoughts about modding... |
All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
