Silent computer
Our answer to Zalman: 0dBA project, rev.1
...and I had no doubts in classical construction of these devices. And I didn't have too many components to make experiments. Firstly I removed the solid side and screwed a big radiator to a motherboard tray. It was fast: this mounting is not visible from outside and I made three holes in it with a drill. Screwing tap, carving, and flat screws – vouala! The next day I unscrewed the radiator and took it on a factory to set it in order. I’ll say a few words about the radiator. I don’t know who made it, but it looks like it’s made of remelted spoons and cans. The base looked like moon surface and there were awful jugged edges. And there was a crosscut edge, and if I'll leave it the convection would be more difficult. And firstly I cut it. Then I changed the tool and milled the side of a base, neighboring heat-exchanging devices. And with a big file I removed jugged ends. And then I mount this device in my computer. This time- fundamentally.
The following few days I milled heat-exchanging devices. One for processor was made of two screwed together 6 mm plates (it's final size 49 x 50 x 12 mm)
...three others are complex ones: the base is grinded out of bars that I found on a factory and covers – from the same 6 mm sheet. That's where I made big mistake, but I tell you this later. Ending heat-exchanging devices I made high, to position channels for pipes and processor on one level. Otherwise I had to bend the pipes in three dimensions and there will be risk of breaking them. The level difference was not very high in my device - there were no problems. All neighboring surfaces of heat-exchanging devices (soles cover and base joints) were milled, and then ground-in to each other with a paste for valve grinding (you can buy one at an auto shop). I’ll just drilled channels for pipes - that's where I found the mistake. I don't know if you can see it on the photo, but two heat-exchanging devices are lower then central one. As I have already said details of two heat-exchanging devices are cut from different pieces. And it happened that aluminum in the base is harder then aluminum the cover is made of. And when I tried to drill, the screw drill always led to less resistance – to the softer material. That’s why I easily drilled processor thermo block which is made of identical plates and it gone wrong with the other two:

All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
